<< The chancel, Advent Sunday 2007 WORSHIP Services of Holy Communion using Common Worship are held at St John-at-Hackney every Sunday and Wednesday at 10am. The Holy Communion service on the first Sunday of the month is for all ages. Morning Praise is said at 8am on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, and at 9am on Saturday. Evening Prayer is said at 5.30pm on Saturday and at 6.30pm on Sundays except for the first Sunday each month when Choral Evensong is celebrated at 6.30pm. There are normally no services on Fridays. Go to noticeboard for any special events. To arrange Weddings, Baptisms, Funerals or other events, please contact the Rector as shown below. Located in the neighbouring parish of St James, Bishop Wood's Almshouses are in Lower Clapton Road beside Clapton Pond. On one side of the pond is a row of clubs and Charlie's Girls' Sauna and Turkish card-playing haunts. On the other, in the shade of a huge willow tree, are five beautiful little 17th century houses, making an idyllic contrast. Between houses 4 and 5, three steps lead up to the tiny Bishop Wood Chapel. There, every Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, a few of us meet for the Communion service, using Common Worship, led by Revd Rosémia Brown, vicar of St James, who can be contacted on 020 8533 7004. We are very pleased when a visitor joins us. For enquiries about almshouse accommodation at both Bishop Wood House and Dr Spurstowe House nearby, where
there are 18 almshouses built in the latter half of 20th century, call
